Precious **TCR#43**

Happy Saturday everyone! It is going by too fast already hehe, but I sure am glad it is here. This layout was done for TCR, the photo is my 2 grandsons kissing the belly of their very pregnant mom, I just love this photo, so precious.  I am in love with the color palette this week at The Color Room, and I have had so much fun playing along since I joined them. You should come on over and play, it makes me think out of my comfort zone and gives me a chance to use up lots of scrappy goodies that I have. I did not really have any stash in this week’s colors, so I created them by inking and making flowers.
I used a sketch by suepup #10211, it’s an amazing sketch, you can see her gallery here. I did my usual distressing and inking on most of the layers. In this close up you can see the punching that I did. I coloured in the flowers on the punch work and added a gem to the centers of them. I added a Prima say it with pearls and on the flower parts I inked them yellow to go with this week’s palette. The butterflies, I printed them out, and added a color stickle around the edges and filled in the center with clear stickles. I added some ZVA gems in the centers of the butterflies. I used a TH stamp under the vine and added gems to it as well.
In this close up you can see the gorgeous Dusty Attic piece…Precious.. I first inked it with white then I inked a turquoise color on the bottom half. I added some ZVA gems to it to finish it off. Now to the vine…..I made the turquoise and yellow flowers in it from my twisted flower tutorial, you can see it on the right side of my blog. I added a couple of cream rosebuds and inked the edges in yellow. The leaves I added some purple ink to and then I added some fuzzy yellow wool to the vine to complete it. I love the fuzzy wool J

In this close up you can see the distressing and inking that I did. I added a piece of lace under the swirl above the photo. Tip…to soften the black I used a white chalk ink and added some gems to it.
As a bonus, this is what I did today. I woke up this morning thinking about these flowers and had to try them out. I love them…I actually made some multi coloured ones as well. You will see them in upcoming layouts and hopefully a tutorial on them soon.

Well this layout was so much fun to make and I am thinking that it might be one of my favourites to date.  Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week, be safe and stay warm. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Girly Girl

It’s TGIF eve…yippee. I love my weekends, especially if not much is planned and I can scrap, but wait….I am waiting for my kits, so what shall I scrap with. Well I have a room full of stash hehe, so I am safe in that department J This layout I made for a sketch challenge at The Dusty Attic. Most of the papers came from my Swirlydoos Basic Grey Curio kit. The photos are of my sweet grand daughter Kylee. She is so cute and at times a girly girl. I did my normal distressing to most of the layers and added some chalk inks to some of the distressing.
I made the flowers myself from a tutorial at Swirlydoos. I love these flowers and have made them a lot. I wanted to add a little something to the Dusty Attic vine. I painted the vine first, than I inked it with some moss green and dusty rose inks. I then added a few ice stickles to the piece. The butterflies I printed out and added stickles and gems to them. I also printed out the bird postcard and the cherub center piece. I distressed the edges and inked them as well. On the center piece I added some satin ribbon on each end.
Here is a close up of another butterfly and one of the title squares that I printed out and inked.
Well tomorrow is Friday and holy it is almost the end of the month as well….where does the time fly? The Color Room comes out with its new challenge tomorrow so I am sure that will be my next project. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week, be safe and stay warm. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Sweet Kisses **Scrapthat**

HUMP DAY hehe……yippee getting closer to the weekend. I did the ZVA blog hop this week and found out that I won a prize package from ZVA, at Tara Orrs blogspot.  I am pretty excited about that, I love their gems and pearls, and I usually hoard them because they are not easy to get around here, so now I can use them up, exciting J This is the last of my Scrapthat January kit, I added in a few things like the Dusty Attic piece and some flowers. The papers are from My Mind’s Eye Union Square Collection. The photo is my nieces new baby and she is just a little doll…so tiny and precious.
As you can see I did a lot of distressing on this layout, I inked the water distressed areas. The butterfly is from Prima and came with the kit and the pearl swirl is a Prima say it with Pearls. The Dusty Attic piece I first covered with Tim Holtz crackle paint then I added some stickles to it. I think their pieces add so much to a layout.
In this close up is another butterfly that came with the kit and a rub on from my stash. I added some gems to the rub on and a My Minds Eye brad by the photo.
In this close up you can see more of the flowers from my stash with the Prima swirl and more rub ons in this corner. I rolled some papers to go up the right side of the photo. I tucked some lace in by the rolled papers and added some more brads.
I am looking forward to receiving my new kits in the next couple of weeks, one order is full of Dusty Attic and I am pretty excited about that. My next layout will probably be for TCR or I am thinking of joining a sketch club and try out some new sketch challenges. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week, be safe and stay warm. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Caress and Create **Swirlydoos**

Ahhhhhhh…..what I would give to be where this photo is now….ahhhhh….daydreaming of sun and the beaches. Ok "snap" out of it Shona, it is winter, get used to it J

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. What better photo to go with the rich and bright papers from my Swirlydoos January Retro Tapestry kit than a beach photo. The photo is my daughter in law when she was pregnant. I love the silhouette look of her against the sun set and ocean. Look at that cute little belly . Caress and Create…..for the baby inside of her.
I distressed a lot of the layers in this layout. The butterflies I cut them out and added some liquid pears and distress stickles to them. The butterfly swirls are a Prima say it with pearls and the peach is liquid pearls. I actually painted on some swirls with smooch first but I did not like the look...so Prima pearls came to the rescue and saved me, hehe

The chippy scroll and chippys letters are from Dusty Attic. I inked them with a moss color first then added some distress stickles to them. The flowers came with the kit.
Below is a close up of the cute Prima vine that came with the kit and more DA chippys letters.

In the top corner I added a flower postcard that came with the kit and another butterfly. I added some liquid pearls in the corners of the card. Around the photo I tucked in some black tulle.
I am looking forward to receiving my new kits in the next couple of weeks. I anticipate a couple of heritage layouts from them. And one order is full of Dusty Attic and I am pretty excited about that. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week, be safe and stay warm. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

All Smile **Swirlydoos**

HOLY SNOW!!!!! Geez the snow around here is getting old really quick if you know what I mean, but on the upside I am in the house pretty much all the time when I am not working, so I have lots of them to create layouts J It is a good thing that I belong to two kits clubs at the moment to keep me in supplies. So the snow cleared up long enough for me to run outside and get a picture of my latest layout, All Smiles. The photo is my grandson Johnathan, he is drooling and his eyes are so smiley. He is such a little sweetheart. Couldn’t ya just pinch those cheeks, hehe. I used my Swirlydoos January kit, Retro Tapestry, for this layout. I love the bright vibrant colors in the kit.
I did a lot of distressing on this layout, some water and some regular distressing. I inked the areas that I water distressed to show the deep creases in the paper. I used some tulle that came with the kit under the photo and added some Vintage gems to the tulle. The swirly birds are a transparency.
In this close up you can see the vibrant colored flowers and the cute Prima vine that came with the kit. I added some liquid pearls to the butterfly.
I added a banner to the top corner. I used some blue liquid pearls where each section connects on the banner. The butterfly I cut out added pearls and used pop ups to adhere to the layout.
Here is a close up of the title section. The title is on velum and the butterfly swirls are done with liquid pearls. I added some tulle in the corner with a little fan behind it and a big gem in the front.
Well I just joined the Dusty Attic page as a fan, so I am off to paint up some DA chippys to use on upcoming layouts. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week, be safe and stay warm. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Love - Altered Box and Card

Happy Sunday everyone J Well I have been working on this project for a couple weeks now. I have never altered a box before but wanted to do this as a special gift. I am going to a 25th Wedding Anniversary next month, so I made this box for her to put party souvenirs in. I will probably put some wine glasses inside as a gift. Love the Tim Holtz feet that I added. I used papers from my Scrapthat kit. The papers are from My Mind’s Eye Union Square Collection.
First thing I did was paint the box two times with acrylic paint. I punched strips for the base and used pop ups to give them some dimension. I added some cool love saying to each side and those awesome Tim Holtz feet. They are actually really heavy the feet, so this box has some weight to it.
I used some lace and stickles on the box top, added a few flowers and a photo from their wedding day. I put some diamond glaze on the bird and LOVE section. When it dries it give it a raised texture that is shiny. Below is a couple close ups of the box.

I also made a card this weekend with my Jan kit from Swirlydoos.  I love the bright colors in the kit. I added some ribbon, lace and liquid pearls. The title is …This day shall be a love day….I will probably give them this card also with the altered gift box.
Both were fun projects to make. And I am sure she will love the box as a keepsake. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Treasure These Moments **Scrapthat**

TGIF J well I took a day off of work and finished up a couple of layouts that I have been working on. This layout is called Treasure These Moments and was made with my Scrapthat kit. The papers are from My Mind’s Eye Union Square Collection and are gorgeous. I made this for a challenge at Scrapthat, I had to use 2 12 inch border punching strips. On this layout they are at the top and bottom. The photo is my two nieces.
I made the vine myself and used flowers from my Twisted Flower Tutorial, you can find that tutorial on the right side of my blog. You can see a close up of the punched section in this photo as well. I inked and distressed the chippys that are beside the vine. I did a lot of distressing on the cream cardstock and inner circles for dimension. I added some stickles that came with the kit to add some color to the cardstock.
The butterfly also came with the kit and I added my own liquid pearl swirl. I tucked some lace in behind the center layer and the title is a cut out from one of the papers in the kit.
Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

ART **TCR #42**

Hello and welcome to my blog. It is Friday TGIF, and it is snowing like crazy here. I think we have gotten about 14 inches of snow in the past 2-3 days. So I am inside scrapping J This layout was done with this weeks palette #42 at The Color Room. The colors are beautiful this week and you get to “lift” another artists style. So I thought about it and figured I would try a style that is nothing like mine, something totally new for me and that would be challenging to me. I chose Finnabiar’s style to lift. Her works are truly pieces of art. You can see her work here.  So as it turns out, it was a challenge but so much fun, and I’ll tell ya..my hands are still stained hehe. The photo is a statue when I was on a wine tour.

I misted and inked and sprayed pretty much everything on this layout. I did some masking on the main paper and placed a few pieces then stitched to the bottom paper. I would have loved to have added some gears and steam punk stuff but I don’t have any in my stash and I think my DH would not appreciate me raiding his shop. So I went with what I have. Chippys, wool, flowers, feathers, wire, frame, tickets, lace, ruffles, some G45 steam punk paper, ribbon, gems and an earing.
This is a close up of the wings that are misted, inked, chalked, acrylic paint and smooched. I added the earing to the center. You can also see some of the masking, stamping, painting, and the wire and gems on the flower in this close up.
I used the G45 papers cut outs in the background. The title “art” is on the circle frame and I left it kinda plain hoping it would stick out.
That was definitely one fun layout to make, talk about get your hands right in there, mine are kinda the same color as the layout right now, nothing that a hot tub on a snowy day will not fix though. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

A Mothers Love **Swirlydoos sketch challenge**

Happy Thursday everyone. This is a layout of my grandkids and my daughter in law. I used my Swirlydoos January kit, Retro Tapestry, for this layout. I used this months sketch for this layout and it was definitely a challenge for me. I am not used to three photos on one layout. It was really making me struggle with where to place it all. In the end I do like this layout.
I punched all around the outside edge of the main paper and added some chalk inks to the edges. I made the swirls with some liquid pearls that came in the kit. For the title boxes I just printed them out, inked them and used pop ups to add them to the layout.
I cut up some of the flowers in the kit to place with the photo mats, and I added some Petaloo flowers.
I used two different Smooch Spritz inks over the layout before I started putting it together. The birds are a transparency and the yellow trim has some little gems hanging from it.
Well I am off to make a flower vine for my next layout. Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic day, tomorrow is TGIF J. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

Expectations **Swirlydoos**

Hiiiii everyone and welcome to my blog. I have been waiting for my January kit from Swirlydoos and it arrived yesterday…yippee….the mail was so late this month because of all the road closures where I live. The kit is called "Retro Tapestry" and the colors are so bold and bight…just gorgeous. . Well it arrived and I tore it open right away and got at this layout for the Butterfly Challenge at Swirlydoos. The photo is my niece and hubby when they were expecting.
I made the flowers myself, using a tutorial over at Swirlydoos, and the fan idea I got from a layout bye Nancola. You can view her gallery here. I LOVE the black flowers they are so gorgeous. I used a lot of layers and distressed-inked most of them. I used a Martha Stewart loopy punch for around the back ground cardstock.  I used the gorgeous transparency butterflies that came with the kit and I just added some red stickles to them.
I added 2 more butterflies to the title section and put on a Prima Say it with Pearls and Lace. I added some red stickles to the lace section of the swirl for more effect.
In this close up, you can really see the layers, distressing and inking that I did on this layout.
Thank you so much for stopping in for a peek. I hope that you all have a fantastic week and that we all get some sunshine this week. I am off to my scraproom....I have an idea for some fabric flowers that I want to try out. Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J
