June BAP Flying Unicorn

Hi everyone! It is my turn to do a Build a Page Tutorial at the Flying Unicorn. I have used the Almanac Collection from the Flying Unicorn store and I had to incorporate a technique into the BAP so mine is masking with gesso.

 Step one:

Trim about 1/3 inch off two sides of main back ground paper and distress edges. Distress edges on Black 12x12 cardstock to use behind this piece.

 Step two:

Take a mask, paint brush and gesso. Paint the gesso onto the mask down the left side, the bottom and top right corner. Wash your brush and mask right away, as gesso dries quickly. You can either let the masking air dry or use a heat tool to dry it.

Here is the finished background with masking.

Step three:

Take some strips of coordinating papers. Make them different sizes, this is a good time to use up scraps.

Cut a triangle out of the end on each one and ink them.

 Step four:

I now start to lay things out on my layout, trying them in different places. I have also fussy cut out a couple of tags from the Almanac papers and used a doily and Prima note card behind the photo.

 Step five:

Once I like where everything is places I start to use adhesive and pop ups to put them in place. This is the layout so far. It has lots of dimension because I have used pop ups under the tags.

 Step six:

Take some matching flowers and embellishments and lay them out on the layout.

 Step seven:

Glue the flowers in place. Add some punched butterflies from the scrap papers. Add some liquid pearls to finish it off.

Thanks for following along with me as I created this layout of my grand daughter using Prima Almanac paper and flowers all from the FlyingUnicorn store.

I hope that you all have a fantastic week! Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

The Great Outdoors – Fabscraps Rustic Collection.

Happy Hump Day everyone! Today I have a layout that I have created using some of the new yummy Fabscraps Rustic Collection. The photo is my daughter and grandson on the beach when we went to visit. The shells I collected on the beach there and the doily is from the restaurant when we went for dinner LOL! Lots of distressing and inking and the larger flowers are made with the collection.

The title chippy is first painted white, than I added some glimmer mists, inks and rock candy crackle paint.

I love all the tags I used on this layout I think it really makes the photo pop.

The compass chipboard piece also comes with this collection. The flowers I made were from the flower making collection papers. You just pop them out and curl the petals. I have added some ink to them and then just glue them together.

One more close up of the gorgeous colors in this collection.

For This Layout You Will Need:
FabScraps Rustic Collection paper range: C48 04/007/008 and MC48 001
Die Cut Chipboard DC48 003/015
12x12 brown cardstock
For the chippys I used white paint, glimmer mists, ink and rock candy crackle paint.
Liquid pearls, button, twine, paper doily, distress ink.
Lager flowers made with MC DC07.

Both of the new collections with all of the coordinating flowers, tags, etc are amazing to work with, and then you get so many chipboard pieces to choose from as well. I hope you all stop by the blog for inspiration. Both of the new collections are now available at the Flying Unicorn store. I will keep you all posted on upcoming events on the blog too. Create – TCR – CT Flying Unicorn

Happy Saturday everyone! Well I am laid up at home with a hurt back..grr..it is frustrating to say the least, BUT I did get lots of scrapping done, since pretty much all I can do is sit around hehe. For this layout I have used this weeks palette and sketch from The Color Room. I also wanted to incorporate in a journal section about creating, for Maggi’s challenge at the Flying Unicorn…so…I chose a photo from one of the wineries I visited last weekend. They had very cool outside statues and I loved the Harp with the Arms on it. I used Prima papers, Prima and Manor House Flowers and some Dusty Attic..all available at the Flying Unicorn store.

I used lots of layers, some are distressed, punched and inked. I did some stamping behind the flower clusters.

I also used some gesso and mists in the background. Here is a close up of the saying. There is something to be said about creating something beautiful with your hands…even when there is a storm in your mind.

One more close up of the large cluster…yes with my DH gauze in there hehe!

Well that is it for today…I will be back soon!. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope that you have a fantastic weekend.  Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J

The photo is my daughter and family last month when we went to visit…<<<waves to Kenzie when she reads this hehe J

I did a little bit of lacing with some crinkle seam binding and decided to leave all the Dusty Attic chippys naked for this layout.

 One more close up.

Happy Mothers day!

Happy Mothers Day everyone! My kids all called me today to wish me a great day…and my dogs did too LOL! Today I have 2 layouts to share. Both using new Prima collections. My first layout is made using the sketch and theme at Once Upon aSketch. I have choosen a photo of me and my daughter, since the theme for this sketch is “Mum”. My journaling reads…..”when I count my blessings, I count you twice” Of course I feel this way about all my kiddys..human an dog hehe.

I have used Nature Garden collection and the photo is at the Grand Canyon, beautiful area. The leaves are stamped and then fussy cut from the papers.

I used some Prima canvas banners and added some fussy cut pieces to them. I then finished it off with some twine and liquid pearls.

Last close up is the flower clusters and I have added in some of the collection chippys.

My next layout is of my grand daughter and I have used the Prima Bap sketch. As you can see I have wandered a bit away from the sketch, BUT that is the whole idea of a sketch to me. It gets me started and I can follow it closely or can chose to go in my own direction once I get going…..which is what I did this time LOL! I am running a “circles” challenge at the Flying Unicorn this month so I will use this as inspiration.

I fussy cut all the circles and inked the edges. The rosettes are all made by hand and I added some of the collection chippys to the tops of them. My wish list is the TH Rosette die...one day I will get it LOL!

I used a mask and gesso to do the leaves on the top.

There is lots of fussy cutting on this layout and I have finished it all off with a Dusty Attic Sweet Pea vine, inks and liquid pearls.

Well that is it for today! Once again I wish everyone a Happy Moms Day!  All supplies used for these layouts are available at the Flying Unicorn store. I hope that you all have a fantastic week! Feel free to leave me some scrappy love comments, I love reading them ...take care and happy scrapping J
